Using your device’s built-in biometric security (such as Touch ID or Face ID) is the quickest and most secure way to access your Updraft account. Instead of typing your password every time, you can log in with a simple touch or glance - while keeping your information protected by your device’s encryption.
Step 1: Make sure biometrics are enabled on your phone
Before activating this feature in the Updraft app, you must first have biometrics set up on your device. Updraft relies on your phone’s own secure technology and never stores biometric data itself.
For iPhone or iPad (iOS):
Go to Settings → Face ID & Passcode (for newer models) or Touch ID & Passcode (for older models) and follow the prompts to register your face or fingerprint.
For Android devices:
Go to Settings → Security or Biometrics and security, then set up Fingerprint Unlock or Face Recognition. (Menu names may vary slightly depending on the device manufacturer.)
Step 2: Enable biometric login in the Updraft app
Once biometrics are set up on your phone, activating them in the app takes just a few seconds:
Log in to the Updraft app using your email and password.
Go to the Profile tab.
Tap Security (or App Settings on some versions).
Toggle Use Face ID, Use Touch ID, or Biometric Login to “on.”
Your device will ask you to confirm using your face, fingerprint, or passcode.
That’s it - next time you open the app, you’ll be able to log in instantly using your chosen biometric method.
Troubleshooting
"I don't see the option in the app." This usually means that biometrics are not yet set up or enabled in your phone's main settings. Please complete Step 1 first and then re-open the Updraft app.
"It's not working even though I've enabled it." Try turning the setting off and on again within the Updraft app. Also, ensure your phone's operating system is up to date, as this can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
Is It secure?
Yes. This is an extremely secure way to protect your account. Your fingerprint or facial data never leaves your device. It’s stored only in your phone’s encrypted secure enclave and cannot be accessed by Updraft or any external party. When you log in, your phone simply confirms to our app that it’s really you - without sharing any biometric data.
